NAS introduces smart gas meter module to meet the European 2020 directive
With the EU target to meet its future climate and energy challenges, smart meters are playing an essential role in the 21st century to reach them. The EU Member States have already committed to roll-out close to 200 million smart meters for electricity and 45 million for gas by 2020. According to the Internal Market for Electricity and Gas Directives, EU Member States must “ensure the implementation of intelligent metering systems”.
From 3-5th of October Nordic Automation Systems (NAS) will introduce their smart gas meter module in the European Utility Week in order to fulfill the European 2020 directive which suggests that at least 80% of all consumers should have smart meters by 2020.
The directive is essential to meet the EU’s 20-20-20 goals – referring to 20% increase in energy efficiency, 20% reduction of CO2 emissions and 20% of energy from renewables by 2020.
Utilities and businesses using smart gas meters obtain more information about consumers energy use, greater transparency, more accurate and frequent billing options, faster service to the end-users and last, but not least they could be the key element to change the environmental issues.
NAS gas meter module will be displayed in booth 1H79 with live demonstration at the European Utility Week on 3-5th of October in Amsterdam. It would be a exclusive opportunity to meet company’s full smart (gas, water, heat) metering devices in real life and meet the team behind NAS.
